Downsizing nen\u00ed pouze m\u00f3dn\u00ed v\u00fdst\u0159elek posledn\u00edch let, ale strategie, kter\u00e1 se postupn\u011b vyv\u00edjela s c\u00edlem reagovat na rostouc\u00ed pot\u0159ebu efektivity a ekologick\u00e9 udr\u017eitelnosti. Od prvn\u00edch pokus\u016f v 80. letech, kdy v\u00fdrobci hledali zp\u016fsoby, jak splnit st\u00e1le p\u0159\u00edsn\u011bj\u0161\u00ed emisn\u00ed normy, a\u017e po sou\u010dasnost, kdy se downsizing stal t\u00e9m\u011b\u0159 normou v autopr\u016fmyslu, koncept &#8222;v\u00edce z m\u00e9n\u011b&#8220; proch\u00e1zel neust\u00e1l\u00fdm v\u00fdvojem.
